Holiday in Phuket Thailand

Holiday in Phuket.

The largest island in Thailand - the island of Phuket - is the best example of the advantages and disadvantages of recreation in Thailand. Tours to the island of Phuket have become widespread among tour operators in the 80s and since then 1/3 of all visitors to Thailand go to Phuket. But at the same time, uncontrolled development of the island began, severe environmental degradation, organized crime and a large number of other terrible events. The pearl of the south quickly podrasteryala its gloss over the past few decades. With the rise in property prices, most of the local land was sold to national and international hotels and most of the beautiful beaches are now at their disposal, along with unnecessarily expensive restaurants, bars, travel agencies, massage parlors, shopping centers and others.

For many, however, very well-maintained beaches located in the eastern part of Phuket are exactly what they are looking for. Having about a dozen beaches and bays to choose from, including Patong Beach, Kata Beach, Karon Beach, Kamala Beach and Surin Beach, you can one day hover on one beach with crowds of tourists, and another day you already go to a remote little-known bay away from the noise and fuss.
For an economical tourist, vacation on the island of Phuket in a small house on the beach at the very shore of the sea can continue to stay in dreams, and simple seafood has long been replaced by Starbucks and Pizza Hut and other monsters of the fast food industry.
Phuket Island is quite an expensive place in terms of housing, food and transportation - here they are the most expensive of all resorts in Thailand. You can minimize costs by eating on the streets and using less water. But if you really want to have a good time there, count your budget so as not to infringe and to pull yourself off constantly. In some places you can not avoid the terrible municipal transport. Buses ride only between the city of Phuket and the beaches, and not between the beaches. This makes the travel between beaches quite costly and it would be a good idea to rent a motorcycle or a car. Phuket Island is also a fast-growing real estate market for those who are looking for a place in which to be old, or just want to buy a holiday home. The rapid qualitative development occurring throughout the island does not contribute to lower prices. The presence of an international airport, one of the best medical services (after Phuket - the capital of the industry for sex change), as well as all other eastern inventions create comfort. Therefore, it is quite easy to understand why for many Phuket is a pearl among even the most attractive islands of Thailand.

Not everyone rest in Thailand during the peak season, when the weather is better, but the prices are much higher.

And that's why let's try to solve the problem - which beach to choose in Phuket in low season? The low season (or, as it is often called - the rainy season) in Phuket lasts from May to September and thus falls on our traditional vacation season. It is commonly believed that at this time of year all the best beaches in Thailand, and Phuket also, are unsuitable for bathing. However, for Phuket this is not entirely true. The northwestern monsoon, which dominates the island during all summer months, affects only the west coast, leaving the eastern and south-eastern part of the island in the same state as in the dry season. If you relax here in the low season, then you can choose without hesitation the beaches of Phuket, which we will say now.

So, remember the rule - the eastern coast of Phuket is quite suitable for rest during the rainy season.

The second rule - in any case, the weather in the rainy season is not so favorable for recreation. You should be ready for waves even on protected beaches, as well as to wind, short rainfall and higher humidity.

And now - more about this.

Beaches on the islands from the east side of Phuket.
The monsoon dominant in the western part of Phuket island creates great waves on the sea, while in the eastern part of the island the sea remains fairly calm. If you were lucky to be here in the low season, then you can go without hesitation to some of the wonderful beaches of Phuket, located on Koh Naka and Rang Yai.

On the island of Koh Yao Noi (Koh Yao Noi) also has a cozy beach, reliably protected from sea waves by the surrounding rocks.

Between the island of Phuket and the Malay Peninsula is the famous Phang-Nga Bay, considered one of the wonders of the nature of Thailand. Here you can also swim in the low season, without fear for life and health.

Several good beaches are located nearby on the Phi Phi islands, which in the low season will delight you not only by the absence of waves, but also by a relaxed atmosphere. After all, during the rainy season with Phi Phi numerous crowds of tourists disappear. And the Phi Phi protected from the waves provides not only opportunities for swimming, but also offers a variety of water sports: boating (at low tide is not recommended), diving and snorkeling.

Which beach in Phuket itself will be the best in low season?
On the island of Phuket there are several partially closed from the sea beaches, which are suitable for swimming all year round. One of such wonderful beaches is Nai Yang Beach. This beach is protected from the sea by a reef, which simply does not let pass the high monsoon waves. That is why the waters of the coastal zone of this one of the most beautiful beaches of Phuket remain relatively calm all year.

And now - about the exceptions to our rule, about the beaches from the western and southern extremities of the island.

Beach Layan Beach (Layan Beach) is located on the west coast, yet provides an opportunity for swimming in the season of the northeast monsoon. And this is due to the fact that this beach is protected from waves by nearby islands, including one of the largest islands - Kala (Kala Island). On the beach of Liane Beach there is a small bay, suitable even for bathing children.

In the low season, beach lovers can pamper themselves on such Phuket beaches as Kata, where the sea is relatively shallow, because the waves are not strongly felt even during the season of the northeast monsoon, and at Cape Panwa. This cape, located in the southeast of Phuket, offers several excellent beaches and a swim in the calm sea. On the beach of Kata Noi (Kata Noi), the entrance to the water is more harmless because of the shallow depth, so it is believed that swimming is safer there than on the other beaches of the west coast of Phuket. However, when swimming on the Kata beach, one should be extremely sharp and not swim far into the sea, where the depth, waves and currents can create a significant threat.

It is also suitable for swimming in the low season closed from the waves of Paradise Beach (Paradise Beach).

Nai Harn is another beach that is located on the extreme southern point of the island of Phuket. On the beach Nai Harn (Nai Harn) often come couples with children, and those who want to swim in the low season. This Phuket beach is protected from winds and waves by a far protruding cape from the right extremity (there are also a few small, cozy beaches here). The southern part of the beach, where the lagoon flows into the sea, forms an excellent pool for diving. Here you can do diving. It should be taken into account that during the low tide the beach is very shallow, in here in the tide you can dive. Though Nai Harn is one of the best beaches in Phuket during the low season, there are still days when strong oxen rise on the sea. However, these days, compared with other beaches on the west coast of Phuket, much less.

Perhaps the best place to relax in the low season in Phuket can be considered

And what else, except beach rest, you can please yourself during the rainy season?
The picture will be different by months, so let's say a few words about each of them.

If we consider the rainy season in Phuket by months, then the picture is as follows:

May: the weather is usually good in the first half of the month, then small changes occur, short rains are possible and small waves appear on the sea. Although there are places where the calm sea is always the Phang-Nga Bay, so you can safely go on sea excursions to the shores of the islands of James Bond and Krabi. Also in May you can visit the grand religious festival of Visakha-Budja. Buddhists believe that on this day enlightenment descended on the great Buddha.

June: A very unstable month, you can even say unpredictable. The weather can make you happy with clear sunny days, and can make an unpleasant surprise in the form of high waves and strong monsoon winds. In June, go on an excursion to the province of Krabi, the sea there is still calm during this period.

July: Rainy and windy weather becomes more frequent, but rains do not last for 2-3 hours, mostly at night or in the afternoon. But the sun does not get any less hot. In July, the residents of the country celebrate two wonderful Asanha Budge festivals and the Full Moon Festival - on this day, the Buddha gave his first sermon on giving. In July, the "Great Buddhist Post" begins, young men in Thailand are tonsured into monks for three months.

August: Strong wind and short rains can spoil the mood of beach lovers. But the inveterate fishermen this month will enjoy excellent fishing and warm weather. The air temperature does not drop below 27 degrees, which creates quite comfortable conditions for successful fishing on the high seas, if you are lucky, you will be able to catch Vakha or even Marlyn

September: This month the employees of travel agencies are considered the rainiest on the island, but this does not mean that the sun is not visible at all, but strong gusts of wind and high waves prevent the sunbathing and rest in full. On the beaches are red flags with a warning that swimming is dangerous, but it still does not stop lovers of thrill. But even strong waves and wind do not make Phuket desert and dull, during this period, surfers come to the island - professionals and beginners. They arrange international competitions and improve their skills at the surf school in Kata Bay.

October: rich in grandiose events of a religious kind. Perhaps the most ambitious and impressive of them is the Vegetarian Festival. The Great Buddhist Post ends, and the islanders organize a colorful parade, with incredible fireworks. All are dressed in white clothes, which is a symbol of purity and renewal of the spirit, but the most powerful manifestation of spiritual purity is the ability to torture your body. Participants in the parade pierce different parts of their bodies with various objects, to be honest, the spectacle is not for the faint-hearted.

The whole "low season" rains are short-lived and after a shower in the sky a bright sun appears. But there is a huge problem for auto and motorists, because even a little rain can turn into a real disaster and movement through the streets will be difficult. However, this does not prevent you from having a good time on the beach or by the pool of your hotel, since the air temperature does not fall below 28 degrees, the sun is as hot as in the high season.

Of the absolute advantages of recreation at this time, you can also name a smaller number of people on the beach, increased staff friendliness, lower prices for recreation, entertainment and excursions. Nature at this time blooms and pleases with its beauty. For those who like rafting, this is a wonderful time, in the dry season the rivers are too shallow. In addition, at this time, most of the national Thai holidays are held, which are highly recommended for visits.
